When a loved one’s needs grow, many families take on the work themselves. It is a lot to keep track of, and it can be hard to know if you are making the right decisions.
You stay in charge. We have spent more than twenty years helping families through exactly this, and we are here to help you get it right.
Situations we help families think through
Perhaps one of these sounds familiar.
How our Compass coaching program works
Compass is our coaching program for families who want to keep running things themselves. You talk decisions through with an experienced care manager, like the tour you just did or the contract in front of you. Afterwards, we write up what we discussed so you do not have to remember it all.
What the Compass program includes:
If it grows past advice, we will tell you plainly.
What you can do now
- Write down what “worse” would look like.Decide now, while things are calm: a fall, a missed medication, weight loss, a caregiver leaving. Having it written down makes the decision easier when one happens.
- Ask what the next six months usually look like.Ask at every appointment. It helps you plan ahead.
- Get the legal paperwork sorted before you need it.Power of attorney and healthcare directives are much easier to put in place while your loved one can still take part.
